NEWS
Local resident Barbara has had her home totally insulated through the new government GREAT BRITISH INSULATION SCHEME.
Thanks to Mandy Brar delivering leaflets from the local volunteer group RBWM DRAUGHTBUSTERS, Barbara contacted them and was put in touch with COOKHAMS FOOTPRINT. Sue, one of our own volunteers, visited Barbara to talk about her concerns and suggested she apply for this new Government grant. Barbara's home fitted the criteria for the scheme and this summer she's had installed about £5,000 worth of 300mm loV insulation, cavity wall insulation and trickle air vents to her existing double glazing. This should help make her home substantially warmer this coming winter with lower energy bills. She's already noticed a big improvement during those stiflingly hot summer days, with her home feeling cooler and more comfortable. Barbara is delighted and wants to encourage others to apply and benefit from the scheme.

You may qualify for support from it if your home:
• is in Council Tax Bands A-D
• has an energy performance certificate EPC of D-G
In certain circumstances, as in Barbara's case, the improvements will be totally free or otherwise, depending on income or benefits, you may be asked for a contribution. There's no obligation should you choose not to accept the quotation.

The government scheme is administered by Ofgem, so ask your energy supplier about it, they should be able to help. If you're eligible they'll arrange an assessment of the property.
